The team of 2021 Punjabi film Honsla Rakh is coming back with another romantic comedy.
Ranna Ch Dhanna, starring the hit trio of Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa and Shehnaaz Gill, will be helmed by Honsla Rakh director Amarjit Singh Saron.
The movie’s first poster, alongside its release date, was unveiled on September 12, 2023.
The film’s poster shows Diljit dressed as a king with Sonam and Shehnaaz on either side.
Diljit is also the producer of the movie along with Daljit Thind and Pawan Gill under the banners Thind Motion Pictures and Storytime Productions.
The film will be released on October 2, 2024.
Talking about Ranna Ch Dhanna, Diljit said in a statement:
“Audiences immensely enjoyed my pairing with Sonam Bajwa and Shehnaaz Gill in Honsla Rakh and now we are back with even more fun, comedy, romance and entertainment with Ranna Ch Dhanna.”
He also shared the poster on his social media handles and wrote a famous verse from a poem in the caption.
Sharing the update about the film with fans, Diljit wrote:
“Ishq ne Ghalib Nikamma kar diya Varna Aadmi Hum Bhi theey kam ke.
“#RannaChDhanna Movie Releasing in Cinemas worldwide 2nd Oct 2024!!!”
A similar post was shared by Shehnaaz Gill and Sonam Bajwa on their respective social media accounts.
Sonam, Shehnaaz and Diljit were last seen together in Honsla Rakh.
In an earlier interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sonam was asked if there was any competition on sets of the film with co-actor Shehnaaz.
To this, she said: “There was no competition because honestly I was so secured by what I was going to do on screen.
“There was no competition like that, but I will be very honest when I was doing a song with her, she was so good as a dancer I was like ‘wow’.
“We were teaching each other steps. When your co-star performs well on sets, you feel ‘even I want to do.’
“It made me feel more responsible. So yes, we did bond.”
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjab ’95 has been removed from the Toronto International Film Festival’s line-up.
While the makers have not commented on why the film is not on the line-up anymore, as per Variety, a source told the publication:
“There are political forces at play in the film being pulled from Toronto.”
“Canada has the second largest Sikh population in the world after India.”
Helmed by Honey Trehan, Punjab 95 is produced by Ronnie Screwvala in association with MacGuffin Pictures.
The film also stars Arjun Rampal, and Surinder in pivotal roles.
