A man has admitted to killing his wife in what police have described as a “tragic case.” Rajveer Mahey, 50, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court this week after he was charged with murdering 46-year-old Kamaljeet Mahey.

The mum was stabbed to death at an address on Park Meadow Avenue in Bilston, Wolverhampton on December 15 last year. Mahey pleaded guilty to murder on Monday, March 18, and he is set to be sentenced on April 19.

Investigating West Midlands Police officer, Detective Inspector Jim Mahon, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mrs Mahey’s children and family who continue to grieve for their much-loved mother and loved one. This case is a tragic case that has left a family without a mother and a father.”

He added: “We believe the murder may have been driven by unsubstantiated jealousy but the true motive may never be known. By admitting his guilt he has saved the family from a lengthy and difficult trial and we hope that this brings a small comfort to Mrs Mahey’s family.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “A man has appeared at court this week and has admitted to stabbing and killing his wife at their Bilston home in December.
