A man has died and a woman has been transported to hospital following a late afternoon shooting in Brampton, according to Peel Regional Police.
Police said they were called to the area of Airport Road and Countryside Drive at around 4:47 p.m. on Sept. 22 and found one victim shot and another with a “gunshot related injury.”
Peel Paramedics were on the scene and attending to both victims as of 5:12 p.m., according to a police tweet.
In a followup tweet, police said a man had been pronounced dead at the scene. Police also said a woman was shot and was being transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred less than four hours before another fatal shooting in Peel. The second shooting claimed the life of a man in the area of Mid-Way Boulevard and Columbus Road.
On Thursday, Sept. 23, police said the Brampton victim was a 26-year-old man.
Police said the incident was targeted and believe that three suspects fled the scene of the shooting in a vehicle. No description of the suspect was immediately given by police.
Shortly after the shooting, police received a call reporting a vehicle fire in the area of Grenoble Boulevard and Williams Parkway around 5 p.m. The vehicle was found abandoned upon police arrival. It is believed to be related to the shooting.
