Afamily of four was found dead at their New Jersey home as police launched a homicide investigation to determine how they died.

Police in Plainsboro are working to identify the case, including a possible murder-suicide.

At around 4:30 pm on October 4, 2023, police turned up at the property on Titus Lane for a welfare check following a call from a relative.

The bodies of Taj Pratap Singh and his wife Sonal Parihar were found along with their 10-year-old son and six-year-old daughter.

Footage showed crime scene tape surrounding the perimeter of the family’s home.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement:

“This tragedy remains under investigation and autopsies are being performed today.

“The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that there is no threat to the public.”

Family members have since gathered outside of the home as they try to come to terms with the sudden loss of the family of four.

Relatives said they were stunned to find out that this happened as they described Mr Singh and Mrs Parihar as a “happy couple”.

The couple both worked in IT and one also worked in HR.

According to his LinkedIn page, Mr Singh worked at Ness Digital Engineering as a Lead APIX Engineer.

Mr Singh was also believed to be very involved in his local community and was an active member of the parent-teacher association (PTA) at his children’s school.

In a statement, Superintendent David Aderhold from the West-Windsor Plainsboro district said:

“The district was informed by local law enforcement of a horrific tragedy involving one of our Plainsboro families with a Wicoff student and a Millstone River School student.”

The Plainsboro Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutors Officer have joined together on the case.

Records revealed that the couple purchased their home on Titus Lane in August 2018 for $635,000.

In a previous case, a family were found dead at their home in Baltimore, Maryland, in a suspected double murder-suicide case.

The deceased were identified as Yogesh Nagarajappa, Prathibha Amarnath and six-year-old Yash Honnala.

Officers with the Baltimore County Police Department had been called to the home for a welfare check.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the three people. Each member appeared to suffer from a gunshot wound.

The US Indian family were originally from the Davanagere district of Karnataka but had been in the United States for nine years.

Police suspect Nagarajappa shot his wife and their son before taking his own life.
