A Rajshri Deshpande has revealed that she was called a “porn actor” after her Sacred Games sex scene went viral.

The actress played Subhadra, the wife of Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).

After the show was released, a sex scene between the pair was shared on social media.

Rajshri explained that not only did the scene go viral but it was also edited.

She said: “After Sacred Games season one, the scene went viral and it got morphed, it got into another kind of film everywhere.

“Social media posts were written about me.”

Rajshri mentioned that although the scene also involved Nawazuddin, he nor the crew members were questioned about it.

However, she faced questions about it.

Rajshri continued: “Nobody said that Nawaz was also a part of it, nobody asked Anurag why did you shoot it, nobody asked the editor why did you cut it.

“The only person who was asked, ‘Why did you do it?’ was me.

“If a journalist is writing, ‘a porn actor’… today my whole identity is just Sacred Games actor. Even Trial By Fire hasn’t reached the way Sacred Games has.”

However, she stated that she does not want to “cry” over what has happened. Instead, she wants a “discussion” on the issue.

Rajshri added: “Somethings need to change.”

Rajshri Deshpande previously discussed her Sacred Games role, which was a short part in the fourth episode.

She said: “I don’t think about the length of the role, but the importance of character.

“I’m glad that I got to play Subhadra as she is a very important part in Gaitonde’s life.”

Speaking about the sex scene, Rajshri said she did not feel uncomfortable during filming and revealed Nawazuddin made sure she was comfortable.

“What I’ve portrayed is consensual love.

“Unfortunately, our society doesn’t want to discuss this. We don’t talk about menstruation, forget sex.”

On the work front, Rajshri delivered one of her best performances in 2013 in Trial By Fire.

She portrayed one-half of the real-life couple Neelam Krishnamoorthy and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy (Abhay Deol) who were seeking justice for their children who died during the 1997 Uphaar Cinema Fire.

The Netflix show also featured Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajesh Tailang in supporting roles.

Rajshri is currently working on the Marathi film Satyashodhak, which is scheduled to be released on January 5, 2024.
