In the fascinating realm of Bollywood, few movies are currently as hotly awaited as Krrish 4.

It has been over 10 years since Krrish 3 (2013) was released.

Since then, considerable speculation has been made about when the next instalment of Hrithik Roshan’s superhero franchise will come out.

In 2018, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan announced that the film would release during Christmas 2020.

However, these plans fell through due to the Covid-19 pandemic and scripting issues.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the shooting stages of Krrish 4 are not too far away.

The source reported that Hrithik will be actively involved in the film’s conceptualisation.

It said: “The project is currently in development. Hrithik has scheduled brainstorming sessions throughout the summer.

“Both Rakesh and he want to deliver a story that will exceed expectations.

“The team has explored and subsequently shot down a lot of ideas.

“The makers are certain that if the story doesn’t work, they won’t go ahead with it.

“That’s why they have dedicated so many months to finding the right story to take the superhero’s journey ahead.”

In a previous interview, Rakesh Roshan admitted the potential problems surrounding Krrish 4.

He explained: “What is happening is that the audience is still not coming back to the theatres, so that is a big question mark for me.

Krrish is going to be a big film. The world has become smaller and kids today are used to seeing Hollywood superhero films that are made on budgets of like $500-600 million.

“Meanwhile, we have a small budget of Rs. 200-300 crores in comparison.”

The Krrish franchise is India’s first superhero series. It kicked off with Koi…Mil Gaya (2003).

That movie told the story of Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), a young man born with a mental disability, whose life is transformed when he is gifted special powers by an alien named Jadoo.

The next film – Krrish (2006) – saw Hrithik play Rohit as well as his son Krishna Mehra. Krishna arrives in Singapore initially intending to win the hand of Priya (Priyanka Chopra).

However, huge shocks and difficult circumstances lead Krishna to become a superhero behind a mask.

The enthralling saga continued in Krrish 3. Unbeknownst to Krishna, Rohit and Priya, a sinister villain named Kaal (Vivek Oberoi) planned to take over the world.

With so much love and adulation from fans, the next instalment in the franchise promises to be a project of epic proportions.

On the work front, Hrithik Roshan will next appear in War 2which is scheduled to be released in August 2025.

It is thought that Krrish 4 will begin shooting after the release of War 2.
